[Tuesday Map] The Wilderness
A different style of map this week, in fact, two for the price of one! I thought I’d try my hand at a wilderness map this time. I started with the lake and worked from there. I’m very happy with how the lake has turned out but not so happy with my mountains and forests – they look too flat. I think I’m going to have to go back to the Fantastic Maps tutorials for those. I am still learning though and can only get better ;)
The second map is a coloured version of the first. I’ve coloured it in my graphics software of choice – the ancient (in computer terms) Paint Shop Pro 7. I bought this software when I left the RAF (when I had grand plans to become a website designer!). It may not have as many features as PhotoShop and GIMP may be a better, free, alternative, but it works for me. I know how to do things with it that I’ll just have to relearn in another program and I can’t be bothered with that :P
Anyway, back to the coloured version of the map. It, too, is flat but at least it’s obvious what the different areas are meant to be now (except perhaps the triangle full of dots – that’s meant to represent marshland…)
There you have it. I hope you can get some use out of either (or both) of these.
