Lost Mine of Phandelver In Character Journal
I posted a picture on my Google+ account earlier in the week while showing off my new All Rolled Up and in the background I included my In Character journal for the Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition campaign I’m in (we’re playing the Lost Mine of Phandelver from the Starter Set). The journal is about A5 in size, but full of hand-made paper with a leather wrap and binding. I picked it up (and another) a few years ago from a stall cheaply because they were marked and the leather had cut marks on it. Anyway, I thought it was about time I started using one and this campaign was the perfect opportunity.
I’m actually quite pleased with it as well. I’m determined to keep it as a completely in character journal and, so far, I’ve included a map of the region and a map of Phandalin itself. These have been hand-drawn (and copied) from the originals available in the scenario so although they are based on accurate maps, they have the sort of discrepancy you would expect from any map drawn by an adventurer. There’s even a self-portrait on the first page (I’ve uploaded a cropped version of the original so you can see what my character, Minty Burrows, should look like ;)
Here it is in all its glory at the moment. Like I said, I’m pleased with it and I look forward to adding to it over the course of the campaign. It should be noted that the regional map does include a couple of potential spoilers so be aware…
