#RPGaDAY2015 – Day 26: Favourite Inspiration For Your Game
In the past it would, in all probability, have been espionage books and movies and, while I do still love espionage roleplaying games, I think my love of pulp has overtaken it. Not just the obvious novels but also the, slightly, more modern movies like Indiana Jones and The Phantom. Everyone likes a bit of pulp and, especially, during a convention game, the mere mention of it encourages players to try outrageous and outlandish plans and stunts safe in the knowledge that they won’t be penalised for it (well, not too much anyway). Some of the best games I’ve run at conventions have been pulp based and I try to run at least one at every convention I’m at.
